And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.

– Colossians 1:18-20, ESV

Our DNA

We’re all driven by something, market forces, popular opinion, personal gain. At LifeConnection we are driven by deep motivations that arise from the scriptures. Our goal as followers of Jesus is to become a missional community of truth, beauty, and generosity.

Mission: The Church exists for mission.
John 20:21Matthew 8:16-20

The church has been thrust into the grand mission of God, who is transforming our lives and our world through the gospel of Christ. And in this mission, the church is the hope for our world because she has this life giving message of the gospel.

Community: The context of life and mission is Community.
Genesis 2:18-25Ephesians 2:11-22

God created humanity to live in relationship with one another, life was not meant to be a solo endeavor. God is in the business of creating a people for his own name’s reputation, thrusting his people into his grand mission. Life transformation and partnership for God’s grand mission happens in the context of community.

Truth: The supreme exemplar of Truth is the embodied Word of God, Jesus, our center.
John 14:62 Timothy 3:16-17

The scriptures form the center of LifeConnection’s missional community, precisely because it is here, in the scriptures (the Old & New Testaments), that we encounter Jesus, the one true God, who is the hero of every story. For us Jesus Christ is the point of life.

Beauty: The creativity of God leads us to value the arts and innovation.
Psalm 19:1-6Psalm 50:1-2

No mistake about it, God is gloriously beautiful in all his perfections. And his world is created to display this glory. This is seen from the earliest chapters of Genesis where at the mere utterance of a word the universe springs into existence. And his glory is no more profoundly displayed than in the message of the cross – a confounding message to some but to those who believe a message of life.

Generosity: The radical generosity of God moves us to serve our world.
2 Corinthians 8:9John 10:10

God’s great generosity is displayed in the mere fact that he created anything at all. God did not need to create, he wasn’t lonely, he wasn’t wanting for attention. But his greatest display of generosity is seen in the mangled, crucified body of his son, Jesus. It is through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection that we can experience life. Because of God’s great generosity displayed in Jesus, we seek to become generous with our lives, our talents, our resources, and our finances for the benefit of our city.
